band info - biography
H.P Baxxter, Rick Jordan and Ferris Bueller - announced to the whole world
in 1994, with one of their greatest hits ever, 'Hyper Hyper'. Their second single (as the group Scooter) has been sold
in over 700.000 copies only in Germany! As the first single, 'Vallee De Larmes', was not quite successful, the second one made
them the idols of many people all over the world.
Next Scooter's singles - 'Move Your Ass!', 'Friends' and 'Endless
Summer' - proved that they were made for creating great tunes. Their debut album '...And The Beat Goes On!' became a legend and in
opinion of many fans (including me), it's their best one. Some confirmation of this fact is the remix
of 'Waiting For Spring' played during No Time To Chill Tour. It means that
guys know fans' feelings.
'Our Happy Hardcore' was the second album. It was some kind of experiment, because
CD contained an extra PC data part. It was full of pictures, videos, information about the band and even the demo version
of cart-racing game was included. Style of 'Our Happy Hardcore' has been changed comparing to the first album. As the title
says, it was harder and faster. Many tracks were instrumentals, without any lyrics. And something worth to be mentioned - beautiful
title track... It's still one of reasons why I regret that I was not a part of audience during Our Happy Hardcore Tour.
'Wicked!', their third album, was some kind of calming down. Rather quiet, with the first Scooter's ballad 'Break It Up'. Written by Noise Katzman, was a radio hit. But before this single, Scooter
has released the brilliant cover version of Marc Cohn's classic, 'I'm Raving'. This album also included multimedia bonus - the video
of 'I'm Raving'.
On the 1st of April, guys released really explosive track 'Fire'. It was a little bit shocking,
especially because of the previous one, which was a slow love ballad. Moreover, this track was famous because of showy live performances, including
great lighting and lots of fireworks. The next single was an omen of the new album, 'Age Of Love'. It contained typical Scooter's music
style, with many H.P's shouts and great tunes made by Rick and Ferris.
Fans were supposing that something
is not right, when 'No Fate' has been released. It was not a typical Scooter song, with really serious message. Most of us thought even about
the end of the band. Compilation of Scooter's singles, remixes and b-sides called 'Rough & Tough & Dangerous - The Singles 94-98' was some kind
of confirmation. And then it has been announced - Ferris is leaving the band! But it didn't mean
its end, because of Axel Coon. His first appearance was a video to 'Let The Music Heal Your Soul' - charity project, which
Scooter took a part in. Young DJ from Hamburg had to be like a fresh blood in tired Scooter's body.
Was it an accident, that first Scooter's single in new lineup was such a big commercial success? 'How Much Is The Fish?' attacked
the charts all over the world, and became a hit of the summer holidays '98. The same with 'No Time To Chill' - first album with
Axel Coon on board. The next single, double a-side release 'We Are The Greatest / I Was Made For Loving You' wasn't successful. If we take a look at
the chart positions, the next one 'Call Me Manana' was much more better.
'Faster Harder Scooter' originally was a track on their first album. It has been released on the single - not then, but in 1999. And
it was not simmilar to the original version - the new 'Faster Harder Scooter' was a track with massive guitars, and it had completely different lyrics. The new album, 'Back To The
Heavyweight Jam', is perhaps the most controversial one so far. Full of hard beats, wasn't good enough for fans who like the
mixtures of music styles. It wasn't successful, so guys released only one more single ('Fuck The Millenium') and started working on the
new one, 'Sheffield'. The tour has been cancelled as well, probably because of the lack of albums' commercial success...
New single, 'I'm Your Pusher', seems to be a compilation of previous ones like 'How Much Is The Fish?', 'Faster Harder Scooter' and 'Fuck The Millenium'.
Fans were curious about the direction of changes in the style - the new album is the one that shows them.
